Denali Taniilux̂ McGlashan, (She/Her), is an Unangax̂ multidisciplinary artist, hailing from and indigenous to the rural communities of the Aleutian archipelago and the Pribilof Islands, primarily Nikolski and St. George Island, Alaska. Immersion into a traditional subsistence lifestyle and community practices from a young age has indoctrinated her into a deep understanding of the symbiotic relationship we hold with our environment. This respect for and intimate knowledge of natural cycles informs her vision and practice to this day. She finds the scientific, creative and spiritual realms inseparable, using her practices and wide range of mediums as tools for birthing her creative visions. Her process is self described as a form of perceptual cartography that serves as a tool to both transcend linear time and excavate the internal worlds she shares with herself, community and ancestors. Denali holds a special interest in surrealism, biomorphic studies and animism. She directly contributes this focus to her upbringing and lineage; finding it to be the most effective conduit in articulating the suspension between worlds that is the driving force in all her creative endeavours.
